Plethora of Collars

not my photo

Collars has always been associated with formality of clothing but one of the things we love about fashion is experimenting and playing with trends, evolving it to something outside the norm (carry it well and justify). Who would have thought collar can/could look so chic. This is one of my favourite accessories since it is detachable blouse/dress topper that would definitely change and freshen up any outfit.  You just have to know the right piece for an specific outfit.
Spotted embellished peter pan collars from runway to the streets, from simple design to colorful pieces (affordable, cute, and edgy) you can't take your eyes off.

Getting Ready For Your First Job Interview + CDO Times Contribution

We welcome another batch of graduates to enter the challenging world of working. Fresh graduates are usually aggressive and idealistic in being successful with their respective fields but perhaps we know that looking for a job right after college/university is one of the most stressful things to be faced with especially the job market is increasingly competitive. To get a job, you must get through a daunting interview first (*wink*). I must admit I have had a fair share of interviews and just knowing where to start can be very difficult in itself. Proper preparation will help you handle the pressure and will help build your confidence during the interview. I believe that a first impression opens an opportunity and in the  future helps build a long lasting relationship. So today, I will share with you a guide on how to dress appropriately for an interview. A guide for you to choose and to be inspired with according to your profession, the company that you're applying (company culture). These looks are inspired according to my experience, the people I know from other fields of work, and  people I worked with.
It is best to dress up appropriately!

My Experience:
"Lovely Polo", the interviewer told me the moment I sat down the conference hall during my first interview abroad (Singapore)in an architectural lighting company. I wore a not so shiny grey-ish green-ish polo that when light touches the fabric turns a little bit gold-ish (whew). That polo started a very good first impression and built a conversation. That interviewer is my first boss here in Singapore.

My Working Environment: Business Basic and Business Casual.

This is the general interview look. Simple, comfortable yet professional. A basic white polo, black/grey wide trouser pants, and simple accessories. Please note that some people are quite particular with colors (this is according to my experience). They can assess immediately the personality of the person by the color they are wearing so if you are fresh from college/university without an experience, I suggest wear a safe color and for me it's white/off white and black/grey.

This look  is most appropriate in creative environments like architectural lighting companies and interior design companies. This is where you can express more of the colors but avoid dominant prints. Always wear in moderation. Remember that you are going for an interview not a party.

These looks are suitable for those in business district companies like  big financial banks that require buttoned-up clothing. Business formal requires strict rules. Tailored, plain, and avoid flashy colors. Work with 2 solid colors only . If you go further with a third color, it must be the accessory only. Make sure to wear a tailored blazer and closed shoes. I observed these while working with our clients from buttoned-up companies. Use your clothing to establish authority.

Aside from appropriate outfit, don't forget to wear a natural makeup and a simple clean hairdo.

Now, you are ready to go! Do you have an interview experience?Share with us and the best look that you carry during your interview!

Halloween Special: Colorful Mushrooms Nail Art!

Here's how to do the Halloween MUSHROOMS nail art that you will have fun with!

STEP 1. Prepare the lacquers needed; green, yellow, red, blue, violet, white and black lacquers. Prep your nails with your base coat as usual. Then paint your nails with a sheer pink lacquer, this step is optional though.
STEP 2. Get your white lacquer and create a thick french tip. Once dried, get your colorful lacquers and paint little mushroom heads or create a half-moon like design on top of the french-tip using different colors on each of the fingers. Let it dry.
STEP 3. Get your black lacquer, and create small dots for the eyes and curved line for the smile. You can make the eyes and smile differently to make it more fun and cute.
STEP 4. Get your dotting tool and white lacquer, then dot your mushroom heads or half-moons with big and small dot sizes.Seal in your design with your top coat, this will create shiny and glossy mushroom heads!

Now it’s your turn to re-create this design. You can post your comment below or you can tweet  your picture showing this nail design. Follow @urhoneyness, @beautyamare and comment using hash tag #mushroomnails

A Night Affair Look: A Keira Knightley Inspired Makeup

Keira Knightley is the cover model for US Vogue's October 2012 (photos below) issue as part of the promotion for her latest film, AnnaKarenina. Wearing a lace Chanel Haute Couture gown with silver half sleeves, she is absolutely stunning! Looking at her pictures decided me to try one of her makeup looks, searched what I love most over the internet and I have chosen the photo above. I tried and I hope you will love it.  Here are the easy steps inspired by Keira Knighthley’s makeup.

1.       Apply an amount of burgundy-brown shimmery eyeshadow  all
over the entire lid up to the crease and blend it in circular motion using a contour/small dome brush.  Make sure that the edges are softened. Add more color if you think the color is not enough. Line the excess color from the brush you used and line to your lower lash line.

 2. Choose  a darker color and dab at the outer crease using the  and blend it inwards. This gives depth to your eyes. Keira's eyeshadow shape is
round but I opted to wing it out to the crease a little bit because my
eyes looked so tired when the shape is round.
3. Using Eyeliner or Gel Liner, line your upper lash line  and wing if you want your eyes to look smaller.  Like Keira's, line a black eyeliner on the entire waterline.
4. Dot your lower lash line halfway with the dark color applied from step 2.Smudge it a little bitand blend it with the line
you did from step 1.
5. Find the lightest shimmery color from your palette and highlight your tear duct. This gives a fresh look.
6. I actually forgot this on my eyes but apply same highlighter you used in your tear duct to your brow bone.
7. Finish your eyes by  a couple layers of mascara right
after curling your lashes.
8. If there are some pigments left around and on your under eyes,  just tap it with damp tissue and fan it with a clean brush. Conceal again your under eyes.
9. Put a little bit of blush to give color to your face. Keira's look doesn't have much blusher on her face.
10. Finish your look with a nude pink-ish lips. I am using MAC Frost Angel Lipstick.
